Productivity is an unquestionable value in the academy. When we do research, we are expected to be efficient, to set clear goals, to be focused, to provide results. Pressured by time, or its lack, the mysterious, the ambivalent, the indeterminate, the contradictory, the aporetic, the irresolvable, and the unsolvable aspects of life have no time in our lives. Pressured by time, we do not have time to waste time.

NIEBLA is a space to waste time. It is a space for useless reflection. It is a moment to think the unpractical, the excessive, the vain and the superfluous in architecture and to play with it.

NIEBLA is an act of resistance. It is a reaction against a type of life absorbed by work, efficiency and productivity. It is a defence of the useless, the indirect, the mysterious, and the resolutely unresolvable because, in them, there is a source of knowledge and happiness that is threatened to disappear.

NIEBLA is an invitation. It has no agenda. It is a platform for discussion and collaboration led by Guillermo Rojas-Alfaro and open to everyone who wants to get a coffee and enjoy an unproductive moment.
